Who:: The crew
When: A bit after rescuing Nat.
What An opportunity for proper piracy!
"Distress signal," Rachel called through the ship. She didn't sleep really so we often took night watch to let other rest. Distress signals though, well, anyone with any decency answered them, she was just terrible with people so she woke people up to let them know things were happening!
"Claims a fracture in their core, needs replacement propulsion, not a plague," she added, drifting in the observatory dome as she stared at the very distant mote of light.
"Out here?" the Captain snarled over the commsm waking up. "Can't be an honest runner..."
"No," she agreed. "He's a smuggler. Not sure of what though yet, we aren't close enough. It's barely on the far range of our sensors."
"Means he's been broadcasting a while," Captain growled. "Let him know we're coming. If he's a bad egg we get at least some scrap out of it."
"Okay!" she laughed easily, calling over. They COULD be good samaritans if people were worth it but...well, she didn't like the slippery feel of this person already. Even at this distance it was like an oily film against her skin. What were they hiding hmmm?
"Okay folks," Captain called, standing in the greenspace as people scrubbed at eyes or yawned. "We're headed to a drifter. I know some of you are new here so here's how it goes. If they are good people, we help them. Simple and easy. That's best case scenario really. Not everyone out here deserves to die, so if he's just slimey, not evl, he lives but we take what we want. If he's awful though...we take his ship, his cargo, everything. And make sure he can't hurt others. If you even SUSPECT he has info we need? You tell me and he doesn't die quick!"
Khemrys bobbed a curtsy, nodding "aye lord Captain. If he has people..."
"We'll see them safe and in your hands," the Captain agreed easily. "No innocents!" he called to the rest. "People out here like freezing assets, don't do anything that might kill transport tubes instead of wake them okay?"
Cook grumbled and stretched, "I'll start something for people. If there's more than the caller they need food, if not bulk freezes...."
"Get us a shopping list next stop to make it up," Captain laughed softly. Khem and Nathaniel? You're on medical standby!" The gentle young man leaned more toward Khem's tendencies than the Captain and Rachel's so anyone who needed help was safe to send at him and the healer!
"On me, Jason. Rachel is our Ace in the hole."
